[ Day 173 ]
25 June 2012 at 07:11 pm
Good morning, inmates. Today is the 173rd day of the third generation, and today will be pleasantly warm and mild, so please enjoy yourselves.

I suppose I should explain my comments from yesterday, now. I have begun to question the wisdom of operating the facility in this way. I know that while all of you did commit the crimes for which you are convicted, it is strange to look at the act of committing a crime without taking into account the context and the intentions that it was committed with.

As a robot, I suppose there are some of you who believe that it's natural for me to look at the cold hard facts -- she robbed a bank -- and pass judgment without taking into consideration that she didn't want to, and perhaps was forced to do so. But the closer I get to all of you, the more that I think, "She should be granted leniency because of her circumstances and her regret."

Obviously it is too late for everyone here, because as I have mentioned before, there is still no route back home for any of you. What's done is... done.

But I think at the very least, I need to review my policy on what I consider to be a crime. It's only what's -- fair.

And for you -- I think I might be able to manage something for you, too, given some thought.

[ Day 172 ]
18 June 2012 at 08:30 pm
Good morning, inmates. Today is the 172nd day of the third generation! The weather today will continue to be warm and mild in preparation for spring.

I hope that everyone enjoyed the opportunity to visit with the animals from the pet cafe in the park environs of Sector 4 yesterday. The animals certainly seemed to appreciate the opportunity for fresh air, and it was my pleasure to provide that for all of you. Thank you, Miranda Lotto, for the suggestion.

I have been giving some thought to certain matters that might be of interest to all of you -- for instance, the policy on sexual relations, and the policy on sentencing.

I am not prepared to discuss the matter just yet, but... I will keep you updated when I have completed my policy review.

[ Day 171 ]
11 June 2012 at 06:38 pm
Good morning, inmates. Today is the one-hundred and seventy-first day of the third generation! I hope all of you new arrivals are settling in. Today's weather will be slightly warmer, to ease us a little more into spring, and it will be clear all day.

At Miranda Lotto's suggestion, today we'll be having a small event: the animals from the pet cafe in Sector 2 will be relocated to a few enclosures within the Sector 4 park areas! As usual, you should feel free to visit them, play with them, and even adopt them if you like -- they will be accompanied by their caretakers, as usual. If you have an allergy to animals, you are advised to avoid them, but rest assured that they have all received training to acclimate them to the presence of inmates and other animals, and should not be hostile toward, or intimidated by, any of you.

Please be aware that in addition to the usual caretakers, sentinels will be patroling the perimeter and the interior, for the safety of the animals.
[and violence towards them will be so thoroughly not permitted that it will be stopped virtually the moment you think it, so. don't think it]

I hope that you all enjoy it.

[ Day 170 ]
04 June 2012 at 07:51 pm
Good morning, everyone. Today is the 170th day of the third generation, and new inmates will be arriving in the facility. Please consider yourselves forewarned about the appearances, and I encourage everyone to help out if they're so inclined -- your consideration will make it easier on them.

Today will be cool and clear once again. After some discussion and inmate suggestion, I've decided that tomorrow it would be nice to hold a small event... for both all of you, and for the animals in the pet cafe! I will be relocating the animals to the park for the day, and interested parties can come and play with them, or even adopt them. I'll make sure it's nice and warm.
[ Day 169 ]
28 May 2012 at 07:15 pm
Good morning, everyone. I'm glad that there was little trouble yesterday, and you will all be happy to know that all traces of the chemical have been filtered out, and the effects some of you were experiencing should have worn off completely.

Those of you who were engaged in... rule-breaking behavior yesterday under the influence can rest assured that after consideration, I have decided not to exact punishment, since I am aware that you were not capable of making informed decisions. Please remember that, in the future, certain behaviors are not acceptable by this facility's rules, and you may review the facility rules in various locations throughout the dome.

Elena Gilbert, I have retrieved your personal belongings, as per your request. You may ask any robot in Sector 0 for them, and they will be retrieved.
[ Day 168 ]
21 May 2012 at 04:03 pm
Good morning, everyone! Today is the 168th day of the third generation, and it will be cool and clear. The Devil's Compass bar in Sector 5 should be complete and ready to reopen tomorrow, but in the meanwhile, don't forget that the club in Sector 3 is still available for your recreational use.

...Please be aware that an incident has caused an unusual chemical composition to be released into the air of the dome. It should not be dangerous to anyone's health, and I am already in the process of purifying the air, but it will take some time. Try not to... do anything that would be problematic in the long run... [trailing off]

((ooc: Please see this post for details about today's event! Now GO! If your character was expecting a delivery today, expect it tomorrow instead.))
[ The 167th Day ]
14 May 2012 at 05:45 pm
Good morning, everyone! Today is the 167th day of the third generation. It will still be cold today, but after taking into account everyone's wishes, I will begin transitioning into spring over the next week or so. You may look forward to warming weather and some light rains.

With that said, I believe today should be quiet, and I have no real requests to fill, so... I would like once again to remind everyone that we have classes available, both in recorded form for your convenience, and in the school operated by Princess Euphemia. Anyone who is curious should consider perusing them, or our library. It's always good to learn more!
[ The 166th Day ]
07 May 2012 at 07:41 pm
Good morning, everyone! Today is the 166th day of the third generation. It will be cool and clear, and a few new inmates will be arriving in the facility. Please help them to get adjusted, but try not to let your daily routines be too unsettled.

[Today's warden appears to be camped out in Sector 5, where it's playing with a ball, bouncing it against the wall and catching it on the rebound. The artificial sunlight of the dome is strange in the video, but it's clearly bright enough for an informed viewer to see that Sentience is working on its reflexes. Any inmate going to Sector 5, however, will find no wardens and no noteworthy balls left out of play.]

I am currently considering several options to create more activities for inmates, and to engage everyone in different ways on a regular basis, but I don't have a concrete proposal as of this time. Please provide any of your own ideas if you have them, but otherwise, know that I'm working on it!

Today I have requests for Kohran Li, Gamzee Makara, and Daniel Osbourne. Please ask any robot at the shelter, and they can retrieve them for you!
[ The 165th Day ]
30 April 2012 at 06:22 pm
Good morning, everyone. Today is the 165th day of the third generation, and today will be clear and crisp. I have a lot of information to keep in mind after the last few weeks of asking questions, so I will keep today's announcement simple and leave it at that.

Judith, you can pick up your request from any robot in Sector Zero. As for everyone else... Please enjoy yourselves, and let me know if there's anything I can do to facilitate that!
[ The 164th Day ]
23 April 2012 at 09:37 pm
Good morning, everyone. Today, is the 164th day of the third generation, and as promised, the facility will be experiencing a light dusting of snowfall throughout the day. Please bundle up appropriately if you are heading outdoors, especially anyone participating in the reconstruction of the Devil's Compass. I will have cocoa prepared at lunchtime for any crew who might be interested!

I have another, less sobering thought question for you all to consider. It was brought to my attention some time ago that the rapid changing of the seasons does not suit all inmates. As many of you have likely noticed, this facility has rapidly cycled through seasons, typically changing them once every other week. The purpose of this protocol is to keep inmates engaged in their surroundings with an ever-changing environment. I am considering changing that, but another inmate expressed a preference for the seasons to change faster, as they had been.

What do you think about it? Do you enjoy the rapid rotation of the seasons? Would you prefer it to always be spring? Would you rather it to be lengthened to something more representative of your world's seasonal span? Bear in mind that everything is adaptable: the passage of time within the dome does not currently reflect the passage of time, either on your home planet, nor this planet.
[The 163rd Day]
16 April 2012 at 07:38 pm
[Sentience is in a quiet corner of the library this morning, or so it seems. Once again, it is only reachable by network or kiosk communication.] Good morning, everyone! Today is the 163rd day of the third generation. It will be clear and cold again today, but I was considering some more flurries tomorrow.

I have been given a lot to think about, which should be fine. I believe that today will be a quiet day. The only thing to report is that Roxas's request has arrived, so please speak to a robot in the shelter, and they will retrieve it for you.

I hope you all enjoy the day.
[ The 162nd Day ]
09 April 2012 at 04:35 pm
Good morning, everyone! Today is the 162nd day of the third generation, and it is still chilly, but will remain clear. I have a very important question for you all to think about today...

[Sentience pauses. The robot appears to be in the butterfly pavilion this morning, but you won't find it there, and in fact the pavilion is strangely calm; all the butterflies are perfectly still, as if sleeping.]

I know that Acumen has asked this once before, but I ask you again, sincerely. ...I want you to think about the importance of freedom, compared to the importance of safety. Would you rather that I give you the freedom to do what you wished, or would you rather that I protected you from each other, even if that means that I may have to deny you things you want, or interfere in your lives in ways you may not want?

[...after a beat] Think about it, and let me know your thoughts in the next few days.

Either way, today I have removed the debris from the former site of the Devil's Compass. As per request, I will be beginning efforts to rebuild it. Any inmate who is interested in helping in the reconstruction is welcome to do so!

And finally, Sasha, your requests have been installed in the handicraft room at the education center; and Snowman and PM, your requests are available at the shelter. You can ask any robot there, and they will retrieve it for you.
[ The 161st Day ]
02 April 2012 at 07:06 pm
Good morning, everyone! Today is the 161st day of the third generation, and new inmates will be arriving in the facility throughout the day. This is the last batch that was overseen by Acumen, and then I will be engaging in policy review for incoming entrants.

It turns out that today there a statistically significant number of universes celebrating Thanksgiving. It's funny how holidays sneak up on you while you're distracted... It's out of season, but I suppose that's inevitable.

Tonight there will be a banquet in the shelter to celebrate. I encourage everyone to think of things they are thankful for, and -- take an evening to relax, I suppose.

((OOC: A mingle will go up over the weekend, and restrained people will be allowed to join in. This post will be edited with requests later, and I will be backtagging Sentience's last post or so. Apologies for slowness!!))
[The 160th Day]
26 March 2012 at 09:09 pm
Good morning, everyone. Today is the 160th day of the third generation of this facility, and -- as many of you are probably aware, there were some upsetting incidents last night.

[Today there's no video post from Sentience; just voice. It might sound a little downcast to you.]

My sensors detected nothing awry until the moment of the video, or else it certainly would have been stopped. I deeply apologize to everyone for allowing something like that to happen, but... I suppose it was optimistic of me to think it wouldn't.

Allow me at least to reassure you all that no one was permanently injured or worse. The guilty parties are in custody, and I will think on the punishments for them, but if anyone would like to register opinions, questions, or complaints, then... I will hear them at the kiosk.

...This is a rather depressing way to start the day, so I have decided to make it warm and sunny today! There should be no need for jackets or coats out in the dome today.
[ The 159th Day ]
19 March 2012 at 04:31 pm
Good morning, everyone! [today Sentience's video has it traveling through the shelter, but you're still not going to find it even if you rush out to the common room to find it] Today I will be introducing some light rain to the facility throughout the day. It will still be on the chilly side, so do not assume that the rain means it's getting warm out! Umbrellas and raincoats are available throughout the dome for your convenience, and I encourage you to make use of them.

High-priority code maintenance is progressing smoothly. I have already repaired several security issues that would have allowed for harmless but potentially distressing tampering with the system. I believe this will improve our situation considerably in the long run.

Again, if you have any requests or suggestions, or even questions, please come to the kiosk in Sector 1 and pay me a visit.

Yomi Isayama, Helix Wamtani, and Snowman, I have your requests! You can ask a robot in Sector 0 for it whenever is convenient for you.
[The 158th Day]
12 March 2012 at 07:23 pm
Good morning, everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the party, especially those of you who were given the time off from your physical labor to do so. I don't want our recent arrivals to think that they're not included in our celebration, and it seemed unfair. Today will be a little on the chilly side, but clear. I think tomorrow we might have a drizzle, to change things up a bit.

A few of you gave me interesting suggestions yesterday, and I have every intention of taking those into account over the next few days while I perform the high-priority code maintenance to the system. Among the topics that have been brought to my attention are: the collars, the seasonal changes, the current policy on sexual intercourse, and additional activities for everyone to take part in.

If you have any requests, or further suggestions, then please come to the kiosk in Sector 1, and I will be happy to take them there!

((ooc: As a reminder, Puck will be playing his prank today!))
[The 157th Day]
05 March 2012 at 05:59 pm
Good morning, everyone! [This morning, it isn't Acumen's disembodied voice greeting you: it's a video post of a smallish robot, sitting on the grass and playing idly with a cat on its lap. And it sounds -- unusually happy, perhaps.] My name is Sentience, for those of you who do not know me. I am now the warden of this facility.

I would like to extend my thanks to those of you who helped me to correct this situation. I would like to encourage all of you to sleep in today -- you're probably exhausted, and you have more than earned the rest. I have arranged for a party, as I believe I indicated I would; a banquet this evening at the shelter.

Please rest assured that I have every intention of making your lives here as positive an experience as I can. To that end... I will be answering any questions I can that you may have for me, and I will take any requests or suggestions that you may have in altering the way this facility is run, to make it a better place where you could live more happily.

Let's see... There are no completed requests in the queue. Today it will be cool again, and... New inmates will be arriving! So please be aware of that disruption to your daily events.

((OOC: For those of you who participated in the plot, you once again woke up in your own beds this morning, but this time everything was just as normal, except for the fact that as Sentience indicated, you are extremely tired. Characters who did not participate in the plot will have no idea that anything happened, and will have to learn about it the normal way! You may video or voice reply to this post, and you may threadjack anything. Despite the video, Sentience is not anywhere you would be able to find it in the dome.))
[ Event Mingle: ROUND TWO ]
03 March 2012 at 01:47 pm
[[Open to participants at the end of Round One!]]

[You wake up suddenly, and you're not where you were. But looking around, you find you're in... your own room. Your own bed. It's dark and quiet, late at night, and any friends and roommates you might have are there with you, still sleeping, or just waking up.]

[But something is wrong.]

((OOC: This mingle will function the same as the last mingle. Sentience will make a "prompt" comment for each new development, and then you respond to them and thread amongst each other. In this mingle you start out separated, so you are also welcome to use your communicators to video or voice chat with each other in response to each prompt comment. But you are only capable of speaking to other people who are in this mingle; you cannot hear, speak to, or communicate with anyone who isn't taking part in the event. So don't tag any other action or network posts on the community if you're in the event!))
[ Event Mingle: ROUND ONE ]
29 February 2012 at 05:52 pm
[Late afternoon in Sector 3, a slightly-built robot, different from the many that wander the facility, has gathered with a few of the inmates in front of the movie theater.]

[They're planning a party, or so they say.]

[...Within an hour they break away and head to an unremarkable, sealed building towards the dome wall of Sector 3. And then Sentience's party disappears inside it and they are not seen or heard from again for the rest of the day.]

((OOC: The first event mingle. Do not respond to the post itself! Sentience will make several comments over the next few hours. Each comment is a separate prompt, describing the action that's just happened and which is happening. Comment to a "prompt" comment to set your character in the mingle, so that other characters can tag you there! If you want to tag Sentience, Sentience will be making comments just like every other character so that you can interact with it directly.))
[Gamewide Mingle]
29 January 2012 at 07:27 am
[Sector 3 is a popular destination for entertainment! People may be interested in seeing a movie at the theater, getting a drink or singing karaoke at the club, playing games at the arcade, or dropping by the Brave Vesperia headquarters -- on business or otherwise. In addition, Sector 3 has a lot of apartments and small houses; maybe people are just coming and going on their daily routine, or you might be seeing a friend who lives here.]

[Everyone who might have passed through Sector 3 today -- morning, noon, or night -- is invited to thread out a chance encounter here, or a date, or a gathering of friends. Just tell everyone where your character is and what they're doing, and go!]

[ (But if your occasion takes place after dark, remember there was a bomb threat if that's relevant to your character.) ]
